The Treatment

Waxing

Waxing can last between 3-6 weeks, depending on your hair growth, the wax’s location, and the application’s accuracy. We recommend waiting 4-5 weeks between waxes to withstand the longing to shave or pluck hair before your next waxing appointment. Hair should be grown to one-fourth inch long or around the size of a grain of rice for optimal results.

CAUSES OF AGE SPOTS

Although age spots are usually caused by accumulated exposure to the sun‘s ultraviolet (UV) light, they may also be the result of using tanning beds/lamps; trauma or injury; or genetic predisposition. People with light skin are more likely to develop age spots, as are those with a history of frequent sunburn or sun exposure.

DIAGNOSIS OF AGE SPOTS

True age spots are harmless and do not require treatment. If what is thought to be an age spot appears irregular, however, a biopsy may be performed to ensure that it is not malignant. Spots with the following characteristics should be evaluated by a physician:

In addition, spots that are itchy, red or sensitive, or that bleed, should be checked for malignancy.

TREATMENT OPTIONS FOR AGE SPOTS

Although age spots are not medically dangerous, many people who develop them find them aesthetically unappealing. Treatments to remove age spots or make them less prominent include the following:

Treatment of age spots is considered strictly cosmetic, so insurance companies typically do not cover procedures to remove them.

FAQ

You must have at least two weeks of hair growth to ensure an effective wax.

We recommend waxing every four weeks. The more waxing sessions you get, the longer the hair will take to regrow.

Most patients see improvement in just one treatment. However, we recommend 4-6 treatments in total. This will vary from patient to patient, and our providers will create a personalized plan for you.

The first waxing session is the most difficult because your roots are large and thoroughly nourished. We use special European wax that doesn't comply with the skin and is formulated to cause you minimal discomfort.

The treated area will be tender, and we don't recommend exercising, going to tanning beds, or putting lotion on your skin after the procedure. It can cause or worsen irritation. To reduce irritation and redness, you may apply Vaseline. Tanning beds make your skin more sensitive before waxing and irritate your skin after treatment. Lotion alters the texture of our wax and makes it more challenging to extract the hair.

After you wax, we recommend using a bacterial antimicrobial lotion to prevent ingrown hairs, minimize pore size, and reduce hair growth.

We don't recommend it. For minimal discomfort, the hair's length is crucial. This ensures optimal results.
